Hello everyone. Today, I would like to share some thoughts about rebirth.
In this life, there are many forms of suffering, and many of them are connected to loss.
For example, we may lose our health, our loved ones, our property, our love, or close relationships.
One way to reduce suffering is to limit what is born or created. If something is not born, then it will not be lost; and loss often brings suffering.
However, in this life, there are things that must be born and do not depend entirely on our own decision.
For example, I cannot decide exactly what form I am born with, where I am born, or under what conditions I am born. Love for family is also something I still have; I cannot completely remove my feelings for my family.
However, I know that once something is born, it will eventually pass away. If I prepare my mind from the beginning and recognize that nothing lasts forever, then when it disappears, I may suffer less.
When there is birth, there will be loss, and loss can bring suffering.
However, if I recognize that each thing that is born has a purpose or a task, then when it passes away after completing its purpose, I may suffer less.
For example, being born into this world may mean that there are certain missions arranged for my life.
If I am a farmer, I produce food for people. If I am an engineer, I create machines and devices. If I am a doctor, I help save people, and so on.
These are things entrusted to me in life, and I try to do well what has been entrusted to me.
When I do those things well, then after I die, I may not have too many regrets, because I have lived a meaningful life.
However, there is one important point to remember: the things I allow to be born should be directed toward goodness.
From my point of view, creation surely does not want human beings to harm one another or make others suffer.
Therefore, there are things that must be born and do not depend on my decision. For those things, I should guide them toward goodness and purpose.
When they pass away, if they have completed their task, I may suffer less.
As for things that do not need to be born, such as unnecessary words, unnecessary arguments, or greed for gaining too many possessions, I should limit them.
Because once those things are born, they will also pass away. If they do not have a good purpose, they do not carry much real meaning and may often bring more suffering.
For example, some things I say or some actions I take may only be for attracting other people’s attention.
When these things are born, they may make me famous. But when that fame disappears, it may bring unnecessary troubles and consequences that make me suffer more.
Therefore, I should limit as much as possible the things that are born without purpose.
Because what is born will eventually pass away.
If something is born with a good purpose, has meaning, and I feel that it is entrusted to my life, then I may allow it to be born.
But things without purpose, or things that are not directed toward goodness, should not be born.
These forms of birth should be directed toward good results. When they pass away, I may suffer less.
The things that are born can be divided into three groups: thoughts, words, and actions.
For thoughts, thoughts such as trying to harm others, interfering too deeply in another person’s private life, or creating schemes to hurt others should not be allowed to arise.
These thoughts are not directed toward goodness and may create much suffering for myself and for others.
From my point of view, what I give out may return to me in a corresponding way. If I give out harmful thoughts and turn them into actions, I may also receive harmful results.
Words are similar.
Words that make others suffer, or stories that have no purpose and only waste time, should also be limited.
Actions are similar as well.
Actions such as greed for another person’s property, stealing from others, adultery, or actions that cause suffering to others should not be allowed to arise.
Therefore, in this reflection, I want to share about rebirth.
From my point of view, once there is arising, there will eventually be loss, and loss can create suffering.
To reduce suffering, I should control what is born within my ability.
Let things with purpose be born. Let things directed toward goodness be born.
But things that are useless, waste the time of life, or move toward harmfulness should not be born.
